Sophia is the girlfriend of Michael and was right next to him when he was shot. She is filled with grief and guilt because one of the reasons Michael was shot was because he was dating a white girl. What the Press would say:
“Salvations End” is a intense, dramatic film with 5 all star performances that are sure to sweep up the Oscars. Salvations end is the story of forgiveness, self discovery, and grief. With intense fighting scenes with tension you could cut with a knife, this films flows smoothly with the help of writing from Alan Ball. His look at family life, and the way he shows how everyone learns from one another. The Peters question their racist attitudes and hate towards blacks (or at least the wife), while the Winters learn to sustain a marriage from the Peters. Some tense scenes include the fight between Henry and the shooter, Henry and Ethan, and especially Lauren and Jane when Jane comments on the faulty marriage between Henry and Lauren, and when Jane starts to question her beliefs to Ethan. These scenes keep the audience on their toes. The directing is top notch from Terry George who has beautiful pan shots and especially the shooting scenes. The cast is amazing with 5 in-depth characters they have to portray. Kerry Washington is the real star with her low tone voice; she really shows the pain and grief of a mother who has lost her only child. Sean Patrick Thomas is exciting showing his anger and frustration, and shows his range at the end. Allison Janney is excellent with the subtle role as the racist mother who starts to question her husband and family for the first time, while Bill Paxton plays the stubborn father with a broken past with perfection. A star is born with Jane McGregor. This actress has such range and is one of the stand outs as the guilty girlfriend. Her scene where she confesses she can’t look at his picture without feeling awful because she knows it’s her fault. This scene shows we have a future Oscar winner on our hands. This family drama stacks up nicely with the likes of 21 grams and In the Bedroom as an excellent intelligent family drama. With all star acting and directing Salvation’s End oozes Oscar.
