They sit at the counter. One man orders dinner. George explains that dinner doesn't start until six o' clock. So both men order something else. As the men wait, one guy start's to talk to George, sarcastically. Nick didn't feel safe anymore, but he didn't want to make any moves. George felt the same way. He knew the guys looked different but they were dressed alike. The food was served and the men who called themselves Al and Max, started to take bites. They notice Nick, and start asking him pointless questions. George and Nick are frightened when Al asks Nick to go behind the counter and into the kitchen. Max places a gun on the counter. Nick does exactly what Al told him to do. Al follows Nick. George's heart is racing. Max finnally gets to the point and tells George that they were looking for a man named Ole Anderson so that they could kill him.Ole Anderson was a Heavyweight champion boxer then. He was very popular. So popular that memebers of the mob would always bet that he would win every fight. Ole was very aware of this fact. That's why he would win every fight because he knew his life depended on it, but soon Ole will start loosing is touch. He would later lose the Heavyweight title. Ole was feeling more frightened than dissapointed. He knew what he had to do next.Al came out of the kitchen. He had just finished tying up Nick and the cook. It was 5:30. George tells the men that Anderson doesn't usually show up until 6:00. The men are willing to wait. It was now 6:30. There was no sign of Ole Anderson. Al was getting tired, and Max wanted to wait a few minutes more. When those minutes flew by. The men were ready to leave. George was feeling a little releaved. Al and Max smiled back at George as they lefted the lunchroom. George rapidly went to untie Nick and the cook. Nick was still nervous. He wanted to warn Ole. Nick ran to the apartment Ole was staying at. He banged on the door. Mrs. Bell, the landlady, answered. She lead him upstairs to Ole's room. Ole was laying on his bed. He was facing the wall. Nick quickly warned him about the incident. Ole seemed calm. He then told Nick to leave. It was pitch black outside. Nick left the buliding. He didn't notice the two men standing across the street. It was Al and Max. They had followed Nick to their target. Al kicked down the front door of the apartment. Mrs. Bell came out, wanting to know what was going. She foul - mouthed the men. Max shot her. Ole heard the gunshot. He could hear the men's footsteps coming up the stairs. He quickly got his gun from under the bed. He grabbed a chair and placed it five feet from his door. He sat. He aimed the gun at the door. Now all Ole Anderson had to do was pray and wait.

What the Press would say:
"Two BIG Thumbs Up" - (Ebert & Roeper)" Scorsese delivers another great Masterpiece" - Richard Roeper (Chicago Tribune)" Has Oscar written all over it" - Peter Travers (Rolling Stone)In Martin Scorsese The Killers, a boxer is on the run from mobsters who want to silence him forever. When they finally catch up to him, he doesn't plan to escape and create another life in some other small town. He plans to fight back. In the midst of all this are innocent characters such as George (played marvelously by Casey Affleck), a waiter at the town lunchroom, and Nick, a town resident who happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.Martin Scorsese takes the short story from Ernest Hemingway and adds more than a few of his own talent into it, and creates a classic. Set in the 1920's, the cinematography is beautifully delivered. With a great performances from Daniel Day- Lewis as Ole Anderson, a man who is being hunted for reasons that he tried so hard to ignore as it is seen in the few flashbacks that is shown, and powerful supporting performances by Daniel Craig and Peter Fonda as the antagonists hunting Ole down, Scorsese's The Killers is no doubt going to be a huge success come Oscar time.
